Of all the countries in the world, Iceland has one of the greatest varieties of scenery within a relatively small area. In this, not too big island there are active volcanoes, geysers, cold deserts, massive ice-caps, glacial lagoons with icebergs and green valleys complete with geothermally heated glasshouses.

It is an island of extremes. One-tenth of its surface is covered with lava-fields less then 10,000 years old and there are always threats of eruptions.

On August 1998 I spent 11 days in this marvelous island. Most of the time I was cold from the icy winds, and wet from the rain that refused to stop pouring, although it was supposed to be summer. But I had the time of my life and enjoyed every moment of being there.
