    Well, I finally got my commentary engine jump started and wil now resume commentary writing fun. That and I'm procrastinating on my work.... er I mean taking a break. So to just jump right on in with both feet, A Family Affair. I know I know, where in the world is AitST?

    Just Some Random Thoughts On This Ep
    First of all, this ep was Kick A** (as my friend said, which isn't far from the truth... this ep ROC'd!)

    Who was that in the beginning, Moses? I mean he was old.. had the curved staff.. why not?

    Welcome to Podunk.. Population: really small.er big..oh heck varying
    Ok I've got a few questions about Poteidaia:

    • In Sins of the Past, weren't the houses more like huts or just a little better than that? Then in The Prodigal, the whole town was surrounded by a nicely painted stone wall and all the buildings seem to be stone too. But now when we've come back, they're back to lil shacks.
    • So what I get from that is that it went from village to town and back to village. I've heard of a shopping centre in Sacramento called Town and Country Village, but I don't think that's what they were going for.
    • Another thing is when Xena first reunited with "Gab" and Joxer's like I'll go check out the sights. I'm like "What sights? This is Potato..Podunk..whatever. Then he comes back pretty fast after viewing the lovely sight outside the village of grandpa hanging around..... from a tree.
    • More on Poteidaia: That puppeteer kinda defeated the whole purpose of the puppets and the lil box, no? I mean the point is not to see you. A tad traumatizing for the kiddies if you ask me. And it figures Joxer would like it, not to mention sit in front of all the lil kiddies and block them.
    • What is it with these "Let's return to Poteidaia" eps? In the Bitter Suite everyone was colourfully dressed (I know it was Illusia) but now there's all these banners and what was with the pinwheels?! But the main thing that caught my eye was Gab's latest in head accessories.... did she steal that from Julie Moran's character when she was on BS? But I did like that sensing of Gab Xena had. But too me, it looked kinda like when she senses Ares so maybe she would've known sooner if she wasn't so thrilled to have found Gab.
    • The Sights of Poteidaia: (yes this is a big Poteidaia rant commentary. Hey that was the only place they were all ep) now the first sight we come to on our tour of this picturesque town..er village is The Barn: funny though, when I saw that barn, it immediately reminded me of a barn I pictured while reading a fanfic once. I think it was Love's Honor. Now for the inside of the barn... what were Xena and Gab doing in there? Especially if Xena wanted to fight it in the daylight. Ok so maybe they were trying to lure it but it still seemed odd. What was funny was hearing my mom yell at Gab for not helping and where's her staff. I think that the whole village life has mellowed her (if I didn't know it was Hope). But what was with the apple? Was she supposed to bean tall, dark, and gruesome with it? Does the phrase "Deer caught in headlights" mean a thing to you?


    A Lil Bit of Randomness
    Why, for a family of simple farmers, does Gabrielle's house have swords on the wall?

    That bridge sure looked familiar. And I always thought good ol' Gab was afraid of heights. Apparently, after being gone 3 years Lila forgot.

    I kinda feel sorry for Spiny. He just needed some love. It's not exactly his fault he's the way he is. And did Hope seem to act the way Callisto did when she was in the cocoon in Sacrifice 1?

    Well, it's nice to know that Xena can decipher the look of fear/shock between "I'm gonna zap you with my eyeballs" or no more Gabby.

    That whole reunion scene rocs!!!

    And it sure sounded like when Joxer was tied up he said, "Oh S**t"

    Back to Potidaia, are those chickens on steroids?! Brings added meaning to Lila's 7 herbs and spices or however many it was mentioned in Sins of the Past.

    When Hope came into the room with Gab, what happened to Lila and her parents?

    Shouldn't have Gab realised the reflection wasn't hers? Felt like a lil Scooby moment when they do the double take.

    Yikes, a tad freaky how Hope (as played by ROC) said "Bye bye, mommy" almost like that girl did in Maternal Instincts. Good but still freaky.

    And that bit where Gab is wondering about how she's Xena's way when she's lost too.... sounds like a lil premonition to those "let's visit India eps" But haven't they learned to stay away from other religions?"

    Aaaay..it's the Fonz
    Nice "hit the tree and dislodge the chakram" move Xena did. But what was with The Flash sound FX for Joxer when he ran off?
