AOL CHAT TRANSCRIPT 6/28/00
AOLiveMC13: Welcome to AOL Live, Peter, Micky, LB and George. It's a pleasure to have you here tonight.
Peter: sure thing let me out of here.
Micky: great but it is dark in here.
LB: Hi
Peter: There are 3 kinds of musicians Those who can count and those who can't
AOLiveMC13: Okay Guys, here's our first question of the evening:
Question: Hi guys!! I've been a Monkees fan since I was two and was excited to learn about the new movie. I even did a report about the group for my history class. Are there any plans for future group CDs?
George: It's nice to be here.
Peter: No.
Micky: Not at the pleasant time, but I have learned never say never.
Peter: Amen to that, on the other hand maybe one or two of us will show up with George or LB.
George: I can play a guitar, but I am not ready to go on stage yet.
Question: Did any of you aspire to be comedians, or were you serious musicians?
Micky: I was original trained to be an actor by my father, at 10 years old I started playing classical guitar, then folk guitar, then Rock N Roll Then I was cast in the Monkee's as the drummer. Go Figure.
Peter: I never aspired to be a comedian, I just wanted to be funny.
Question: Peter, where did you get that sparkly shirt you wore while hosting the Monkees marathon?
Peter: LB says tell them LB made it.
Question: Micky, you once said that You wanted to build something lasting, something to call your own, do you feel you've accomplished that?
Micky: It's half way built, I am still waiting for the permit. I think the Monkees songs have held up very well over the years and sound as fresh today as they did in the '60s.
Question:Did you guys think the songs would still be popular 30 years later when you recorded them?
Micky: I'm trying to build a bird feeder to keep squirrels out, but so far no luck.
Peter: I didn't think about 30 years later when I was that old. 30 years later had no concept to me back then.
Micky: I'd like to think that I recognised that the songs were well written, but I could not have had any idea about how successful they would have become.
Question: When you did the show pilot, did you think you were going to be as big as you were?
LB: I knew
Micky: I was always six feet tall.
Peter: I knew that if it went at all it would have gone as well as it is going. I met a friend in New York who reminded me that I had told him before it was sold that it would be as big as it became.
George: I Knew
Question: Peter and Micky-what have each of you found most rewarding over the years about being in The Monkees?
Peter: Micky
Micky: Peter - Peter & Micky: and Girls.
Question: Does the TV movie have any glaring errors or distortions that you would like to set straight?
Peter: The movie has me hitting Davy first, I want the record to show that Davy hit me first.
Question: George and L.B. do you have any memorable moments from the movie?
LB: My favourite was my reacting the peasant and the princess scene from the show.
George: My most memorable moment was the 2 days of shooting live concert footage, with all the screaming girls, even though they were screaming Davy's name instead of mine.
Question: Hey Micky It's Suzi without Tina D !:) Are you going to do any new Voice Overs for animations ?
Micky: I hope so..
Question: George, are u working on any other movies and have u been in anything else?
George: That's really short. No, I haven't done anything before and I don't have anything in the works right now.
Question: LB and George: Were you two Monkees fans at all before this project?
George: I knew of the Monkee's before I started doing the movie, but only by the song. I never really watched the show, but I am now.
Peter: Nice save.
LB: My mom was a big fan so that transferred to me I loved the Monkee's. In fact Micky was on my plane to Sundance and I called all my friends.
Question: L.B. and George, did you find it hard to portray real life characters as opposed to fictional characters? did you find it more difficult?
LB: Absolutely, I had to worry what Peter thought, I was hoping to be true to him.
George: No doubt about it, I knew that Davy Jones was hopefully gonna watch this movie and I was telling a part of his life and I wanted it to be respectful to him.
Question: do you ever watch the old show and say that show was cool and do you have a favourite episode?
Peter: Sometimes the show looks very good to me and sometimes not. My favourite episode was one we talked about earlier, it was the fairy tale episode. I thought Michael was brilliant as Mike Nismitz and the Princess.
Micky: I don't recall specific episodes. As well as I just recall the joy of getting up at 5 o'clock in the morning and showing up on a cold damp set with 30 smelly crew members and 3 other idiots. GOD it was FUN !
George: I think my favourite episode would be the fairy tale because it was one of our funniest days trying to recreate that on the set. LB and Jeff were brilliant in recreating it. Although I don't think they got through it totally even once.
LB: My favourite was when Peter interviewed for the job and had to talk with the computer.
Micky: MY favourite episode is when Spock gets married on the planet Vulcan. OOOPS Wrong show.
AOLiveMC13: Hey, this has been fun. Thanks, Micky, Peter, George and LB for being here tonight. You guys were super. Any closing remarks for the audience here?
Micky: I want to unashamedly plug my web site
AOLiveMC13: Go right ahead.
www.MickyDolenz.com
George: I would like to say it was nice being here talking to everybody and tune in tonight 9ET/8CT and 9PT.
LB: Thanks for having me enjoy the movie.
Micky: I want to wish good luck to everybody involved with the movie.
Peter: As long as Micky is doing it. I want to
Micky: plug my web site thanks Pete.
Peter: No No I have a web site for my blues band. www.shoesuedeblues.com and I would like to wish all of the cast especially LB and George after this dubious occasion.
Thanks EVERYONE - Good Night.
