Yahoo! News Entertainment Headlines Tuesday April 28 8:45 AM EDT Winslet Takes 'Plunge' By Adam Dawtrey LONDON (Variety) - Kate Winslet followed up her role in "Titanic" by playing a cameo role in a micro-budget British picture titled "Plunge," without the knowledge of her agent. One of Winslet's friends was working on the $300,000 picture, and she volunteered on the spur of the moment to join in. The film is about a group of roadsweepers who decide to go surfing when they find a surfboard in a garbage bin. They head for Cornwall, home of English surfing, where they encounter a female roadsweeper, played by Winslet. "It had been her birthday the night before, so she had had only two hours' sleep. But she was great, and fit in perfectly," director Max Newsom told the Sunday Telegraph. Newsom raised the film's budget from friends, family and private investors.
