Rant & Roar

"Now I don't want to get off on a rant here, but...." -Dennis Miller

Here is my Rant and Roar page. My rants vary in length depending on how I feel and how much I have to say about each issue. Once again, I'd like to point out that I am not trying to offend anyone in particular. This is just me blowing off some steam.

Topic: Rudeness

Why the hell is everybody so pissed off at everybody else? Am I the only one who seems to notice that "look out for number one" has stopped being the motto of some and has become the mantra of this cult we call society? People today don't seem to even know what the words "thank you" mean, let alone how they're used in a sentence! As a society, we need to start acting more civil to each other before things deteriorate into electric fences around every home and people sitting on their roofs with sniper rifles.

The worst are those bitter people who act like everybody is out to beat the crap out of them. These are the people who can't smile or their face will fall off. They want everything instantly and if they don't get it, they bitch and complain and threaten to sue. These are the people who think that every small minor thing is part of some cosmic plan to make them suffer. Well guess what, the world doesn't revolve around you! Either you haven't heard this expression as a child, or it just didn't sink in, but either way, you'd better learn it now. If you're 2 seconds late in getting home, then LIFE WILL GO ON. We all need to stop treating others like their only purpose is to serve our every need. If you treat people like crap, then they're going to treat you like crap.... and they'll be justified in doing so.

Hey, we all have our bad days. Some days, it's complete hell. Sometimes, we lose our temper. It happens to all of us. I've been extremely frustrated at times and snapped at my friends. I felt terrible afterwards, but my friends forgave me because they understood that I was in a crappy mood. I'm not saying we always have to have this phony expression of kindness and happiness plastered on our faces. I'm just saying that not EVERY day is the worst day of your life, and you should at least recognize that there are other people around you who want to be treated with the same respect that you want to be treated with.

Being civil to one another is not as hard as people seem to think it is. Just say stuff like "thank you" after someone does something for you or "thanks for your time" after you get information from them. If you treat a person like a person, then neither of you will have to put up with each other's whiny inner child who's angry at not being able to punch everybody around him/her. We all have to live on this planet together, so why make it more difficult to deal with people than it already is? You're only making it harder for yourself. If you hate being in the presence of other people, then become a hermit. If you want to join the rest of us in society however, then learn to be polite. It'll make life easier for everyone.

I feel much better now that I've vented.
