Rupert Giles

Rupert Giles comes from a family of watchers. His Father and Gandmother were ones. At the age of ten he was told that he would become a watcher. Which really dissapointed him because he would of rather been a fighter Pilot or a Grocer. He went to Oxford University where one of his friends Carlyle Ferris fought a She-Mantis who lost the battel and his Sanity. Giles rejected the idea of family Destiny and dropped out of Oxford choosing instead to dabble in the occult. He and five friends summoned a demon called Eghon to the Earth. Only Giles and Ethan Rayne survived. His witchcraft skills has come in handy for more then one time.

He was a curator at the Museum in England. Possibly the British Musuem before being assigned to Buffy by the Watchers Council. He has excellent skills with fencing and shooting a tranqulizer gun and lists and cross-referencing among his favorite hobbies.

Giles is now the Sunnydale highschool Librarian. It is presumed that he has a master degree in Library science or the british equivilant. It is also presumed that Princapal Flutie gave him a broad choice in choosing the books in the library. Specialy when there is ancient Text there that can help when the scooby gang needs info or to fight a deamon or foil the latest plot from Master, Spike, Drusilla or The Mayor.

His dateing life has not been all the great. Dr.Gregory who had a crush on him who was killed he then later dated Jenny Calender. Later she was possesd by Eyghon.She was sent to Sunnydale to watch Angel. Minuets for the were about to make up Angel or Angelus Killed her.

Although he is not a slayer, he has been quite physical. He has done many things to help the gang in many ways. He also withstood torture from Angelus. Away from the steriotypical englishman that he appears to be he has know to have a ferocius side when he gets mad. He oftenly still suffers from the death of Jenny Calender.

During Season 3 Giles continued to be Buffy's watcher untill her 18th birthday when Giles was fired by the Watchers Council for being to American. When Buffy's new Watcher Wesley Windam Pierce shows up she shows no respect. Later when when the scoobies are getting ready for the acension Angel is poisioned and Wesley and the Watchers council wouldn't give a antidote Buffy quit the council and Wesley left for England. Giles and Buffy were both now cut off from teh Watchers council.

With the school blown up Giles has no job. He lounged around a lot during season four. Helping Buffy when she needed it. When dealing with Adam the frankenstein creation Giles, Willow and Xander all did a spell to help Buffy in which he was the mind part of the Super Slayer. In season five Giles is asked to be Buffy's watcher agian and he accepts and they train. When the gang finds the magic shop owner has been killed Giles takes ownership calling it The Magic Box. Now Giles is helping Buffy with trying to defeat the crazy hellgod Glory. Giles helped with some of his Brain power to help defeat Glory and also taking a part in action against Glory's Minions, but now with Buffy sacrificing herself to save the world what is a Watcher to do with out a Slayer? Giles leaves for England at the start of season six and finds out that she has been brought back and behind his back which he wasn't really fond of, even though his Slayer was back. Giles sticks around for a little bit but finds Buffy needs to grow up on her own and figure things out. After giving her some money to help with her finicial problems, Giles has left the country for England again. Giles was in England untill a coven in England had felt a dark presence looming in Sunnydale. They gave him some magic powers and he teleported to Sunnydale to stop Willow. He put up a fight untill she sucked the magic out of him which actualy gave Xander the chance to stand up to Willow and end her evil ways. Giles was helped out of the magic box at the end of the season finale by Anya. We don't know if Giles will stay or head back to England yet again.
Giles "Went all Dumbledore" on Willow following her dark times. He helped her get through it and such and when Willow came back to the Sunnydale he stayed behind in England. It's presumed Giles will be back. And Back he came. Giles arrived when Buffy couldn't contact her and brought along three SITs. Telling Buffy the Watcher's Council has been wiped out and that The First Evil is wiping out the Slayer line, going after the Watchers, then potentials, then eventualy Buffy and Faith. At one point it was thought that Giles was The First in disguise because of a Watcher saw him about to meet a Bringer's ax, but Giles saved himself and he indeed is alive. Giles has been trying to be the voice of reason for Buffy even thought she has thought she hasn't needed it. He went nuts over the idea of having Spike's chipped removed and tried to help Pricipal Wood in his vendetta with Spike. Giles kept telling Buffy she needed to think clearly but indeed he was wrong in saying there is nothing down in the Vineyard, for when Buffy found a powerful weapon waiting for her. During the final days in perparing for the final battle with The First Giles helped with research and though Giles was against Buffy for a while till she came up with the great plan to activate all potentials. Giles after a simalar encounter at the end of "The Harvest" saying "The World is definitly doomed", found with Princapal Wood in stopping the Ubervamps and Bringers. Giles helped Wood get out and get to the bus to get out of Sunnydale. Giles menched there was a hellmouth in Cleveland, typical Giles to keep thinking supernatural even after the biggest battle of their lives. (Throughback to 'The Wish')
