Xander has lived in Sunnydale all his life. His best friend, Willow Rosenberg, have been friends sence the sandbox. Willow and Xander has gotten each other through a lot of things. The two used to play literal doctor. Willow would use, many medical text. The two would sleep over at each other's houses a lot. His other best friend was Jesse, till his was turned into a vampire and inadvertently staked by Xander. Xander overheard Buffy's secret when Giles was talking about it. Him along with Willow has helped Buffy Sence day one.
Little is actulay known about The Harris Family. Suposedly at one time Xander's father wanted to sell him to the Armenians. Also it is proven that nethir parent can cook. When Xander invited Willow to his house for dinner he says that "Mom's making her famous call to the chinese place." Which in response Willow asks if they even have a stove in there kitchen.
We also know Xander doesn't fair to well academically and with relationships. Academically he is always asking his best friend Willow for her to Tutor him. With the girls Xander is doin worse. He's gone from falling for a Giant Praying Mantis to a Incan Mummy who drains people energy. Then there is Buffy who he has carried a torch for ever sence he saw her that first day he crashed his skateboard when he caught his first glimsp of her. Not to menchen going out with Cordelia Chase because he was a member of the ever so famour "We hate Cordelia Fan Club" to which he was the treasurer. When Cordelia broke up with him he convinced Amy Madison to make a spell to have Cordelia to fall back in love with him so he can break up with her and cause some pain but terriable back fires when every woman in town EXCEPT Cordelia falls for Xander. Soon the spell was reversed and despise the desperate attempt Cordelia gave the realationship another try. His love for Buffy still lives deep inside him. Which Willow and Cordelia don't like a little bit and of course Angel didn't like it when he was around.
Xander may not be the Smartest of the group like Willow or Giles. Or have the strength or style to fight like Buffy, Angel or Even Giles sometimes Xander has been a important part to the group. He has gone Undercover many times and has done such as joining the Swim team for undercover work, Overcome his nightmare, Challenge Vampires in their Layer, and Rescue Cordelia from a burning room.
In season three Xander continued with the helping but him and Cordelia were finsished. But Cordy remained apart of the gang. Xander had a brief breif fling with rengade Slayer Faith. Xander help take charge when going aginst the Mayor in graduation day. In Season four Xander took more of a side roll as he was the non college guy and always had side jobs, with Anya following him everywhere the two kind of became a couple. Xander had a construction job which would turn out in season five to be what he is good at. Who would think Xander as a handy man...infact he helped Giles with the magic box, Buffy's new training room and rebuilt a window Spike was thrown through. Xander in season five took more a promising role a helpful role. When seperated into two Xanders he relized a lot of things. Now he lives in his own apartment away from the basement in his parent's home. He earns the money from the construction job where he was promoted and givien a raise. He relizes how much he is love with Anya when helping Buffy with Riley Problems and now is helping to defeat Glory. Well when helping with what he can in the battle against Glory we see how much he actualy loves Anya by proposing to her before the final showdown. So odds are next season we get to see a Very scooby wedding...Xander helped a good part in the final battle as when Glory is distracted by the Buffybot and the Real Buffy Xander hits Glory with a wrecking ball. "And the Glorfied bricklayer picks up a spare." and as menchened Xander and Anya are now set to be married hopefully we will get to see that this next season. Well we come back and find out that they haven't even announced it yet. Anya becomes annoyed with them not telling. Xander waits for the right moment. He helped in raising Buffy and then on Halloween, Xander reveals about Anya and Him being enganged. A tottal shock to the group. Xander and Anya plan for the wedding and during the Musical Episode "Once more with feeling" we find at the end that he was the one to summon the musical demon he wanted to see if the two would last. Now we keep waiting for the day the two will be married and wait we did. Xander and Anya were set to be married and seeing his family for the first time and with him watching his Father be drunk and help of a demon Anya did vengence on a long time ago. Xander backed out and left her at the alter being afraid to become his father. Xander screwed up and couldn't patch things up with Anya. He was ready to stake Spike once the two had sex he couldn't stand it. He tried so hard to work things out but then finding Buffy did also wasn't very good for him. Towards the season finale he began to Xander was not feeling good about himself feeling helpless and useless. That he couldn't help at all, but he was the one to save the world when it counted and brought Willow back from the darkside. He told her how he loved her always when she was breaking yellow crayon Willow and Dark Scary Vainy Willow. He has always stuck by her. Once again Xander proves why he is the white knight of the scoobie gang and that he isn't so useless. Xander was ready to welcome Willow home after she had gotten back from England with a sign in Yellow crayon that really didn't work out and he was trying to stand up for Anya when Buffy was ready to go kill her because of her being a demon and killing people agian. Anya ,after her best friend hallie was sacrficed lost her powers, was comforted by Xander. Xander was also the part of the crew who worked on the new sunnydale high school and has been using his contruction no how to help fix up Buffy's home after been attacked by Bringers and such this year. Recently Xander went in on the attack to the vineyard and when Caleb got a hold of him said "Oh your the one who sees everything, let's see what we can do to fix that" and procedded to jam his thumb into one of Xander's eyes. Xander was a part of the group when talking to Buffy about her "narrowmindedness and not thinking." He's been trying to make the best of losing his eye. When Buffy finally came to her senses Buffy wanted Xander to "kidnap" Dawn to leave Sunnydale, not wanting anything to happen to the two. Xander thought he'd be their to the end and fight with her. Buffy tells Xander she would of never made this far with out him and that she would trust him with her life. Xander does it but it backfires till Dawn knocks Xander out in Return and returns to Sunnydale. Xander gets ready for the battle and fights with Dawn agains the bringers and ubervamps. As Sunnydale High crumbles Xander yells for Anya, but nothing. As what is left of the group makes their way out of Sunnydale Xander asks Andrew what happened. Andrew tells him that she died saving his life. Xander replies with a tear in his eye "Thats my girl. Always doing the stupid thing."
When Andrew visited Angel Investigations at Wolfram and Hart, he shared where the survivors of Sunnydale were...Xander was down in Africa presumbly searching out new slayers.
