Andy is very close to his older brother, Maurice, who is Robin's twin. "He perhaps is the one who understands me the most. We're a lot alike," Andy says. It's Maurice who told him how much fun it was to write music. "Songs don't just come out of the air. They take time, but it's good fun, too." Maurice wanted Andy to join the Bee Gees about four years ago, but Andy confided to his brother that he wanted to go solo.
"Maurice gave me encouragement." Maurice was always there to listen to Andy's problems. When he was blue, nursing a broken heart, or ecstatic about a song he'd written, Andy would seek out Maurice to share these things with him. Andy bared his innermost soul to Maurice, and Maurice was always understanding and helpful. Andy was shy when he wayoung, but Maurice helped
him overcome his fears - and perhaps that's why Andy's a star today!
