When Andy Gibb walks onto a stage, you have an instant guarantee of mass hysteria from his fans. The intensity with which his fans receive him is so great that sometimes, Andy admits, it really frightens him. But the minute Andy walks back off that stage, he isn't Andy Gibb superstar anymore. He likes his lifestyle to be as quiet and "normal," if such a word applies, as possible. Wild parties, heavy drinking, lots of women -- the elements that figure in the lives of many big rock stars -- are simply not his style.
A Look At Andy Gibb At Home
I'm A Tea And TV Man"I don't drink," Andy explains. "I'm not a party person. I'm a tea and television man." That may come as a surprise to many who have fantasized about Andy's glamorous lifestyle; but the truth is, he has enough excitement when he's performing. When he's not on stage, he's working on an album or composing, and that takes a clear head and plenty of rest and relaxation to be able to have the creative energy to produce.
Until recently, most of Andy's R&R was done on his houseboat down in Florida. But after his marriage broke up, he decided to sell it. Now Andy rents a waterfront home in Miami, ten minutes away from brother Barry's home.
When he's not at the Gibb recording studio, Andy loves to go out in his boat deep-sea fishing. Waterskiing is a hobby as well. He loves the sun so much that his stay on the island of Ibiza, when he was in his teens, was sheer paradise because the island is known for its blue skies and ideal weather. Other times, Andy is over at his brothers' homes, playing with his nieces and nephews. All in all, Andy lives a very quiet existence. Anyone for tea and television?
