In My Own Little World: Part 1
Emily looked around, confused. "Where am I?" she asked. "Who are YOU???!!!" came a voice surprised from behind her. Emily spun around to see a startled boy standing behind her. He was around sixteen, and had blue hair. But that wasn't right. "Nobody form Parksfield has blue hair!!" she thought. Then again, she wasn't IN Parksfield. Emily looked at the boy. "Excuse me," she said, ever the polite little girl, "But could you tell me where I am? I'm lost." "You're in the forest. I was on my way to...er, that is, I was out for a walk and you just appeared in front of me. What's the last thing you remember from before you came here?" "The last thing I remember..." Emily paused. "The last thing I remember is me falling asleep!! That's it! I'm asleep! I'm dreaming!!!" "Actually, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that I'M not dreaming, and I KNOW that I'm real." The boy looked at her strangely. "Where are you from? You have an accent," he explained apologetically. "From? I'm from Parksfe--"
BEEP!!!! BEEP! BEEP!!!!!!! BEEEEEEP!!!!!!! "EMILY!!!!! Time to get up!!!!" Emily opened her eyes. She remembered having a dream, but she couldn't remember what it was. She closed her eyes for a quick moment of extra sleep and--she was back!!! She stood in the forest again, with the blue-haired boy staring at her!!! She opened her mouth to speak, but--"EMILY!!!! GET UP NOW!!! You're going to be late for school!!!!!" Emily looked very afraid. She gulped and closed her eyes, trying to get her bearings and--there was the boy again!!! Emily opened her eyes WIDE. She blinked and caught a glimpse of the boy. She raced into her parents' room. Her father was already downstairs making her lunch, but her mother was still in bed, as usual. She ran to her mother, not quietly as she usually did when she was going to tell her mother her dreams, but in a rush, frightened. "MOM!!!!
WAKE UP!!!" Emily blinked again. The boy looked like he was going to faint. "MOM!!!!" She cried more urgently. "What?!" snapped her mother. "Mom!!! Oh, my god," Emily was trying as hard as she could to keep her eyes open. "Every time I close my
eyes I go to an--" she blinked. The boy HAD fainted and now she could see another boy, this one with normal brown hair, running up to him. "Every time I close my eyes, even just to blink, it's like I go to an entirely different world!! And there's a person there,
and he has blue hair and he says he's real and he fainted and now there's another person running up and he has brown hair and I'm REALLY afraid and am I going crazy?????" Emily's mom looked at her. Her mom was by NO MEANS a normal mom, she was more like a big sister. She kept pet bugs and was a chemist, biology teacher, and entomologist, and she was very into dreams. But this was weird. "Close your eyes." she said. Emily did. "Are they there?" her mother asked. But Emily didn't hear the last question. She was back in the forest, and now she had FIVE boys staring at her. Blue-Hair had woken up. She looked at them, obviously terrified. "W-what happened?" she asked meekly. "I don't know..." said Blue-Hair."How are you doing that?" "Doing what?" Emily now looked terrified AND confused. "You keep flickering in and out of existence," explained Brown-Hair. "I do?" The boys nodded. "But I only come here when I close my eyes..." "EMILY???!!!!! ARE YOU OK???!!!!!" Emily's mom was shaking her now. "What happened?" Emily asked. "Well, I told you to close your eyes, and you did, and then you just went down. You didn't answer me and you got really pale. Your eyes were sort of glazed over. You look terrible. Are you feeling all right?" Emily shook her head No. "When I closed my eyes, I-I went back to the forest, the other place, and there were FIVE guys there and I was really scared!!! They said that I keep flickering in and out of existence. What's going on?!?" "Emily!!!" her dad called from downstairs. "Come on!! It's time to go, or you'll miss your bus!!!" Emily blinked. The five boys gasped. "C-can I stay home today?" Her mom nodded. "Go back to sleep. I'll tell your dad that you're not feeling well and--" "NO!!! I CAN'T go back to sleep!! If I do, I'll go back with them!!" Her mom looked at her. "Do they seem threatening in ANY way at ALL?" "Well, no..." "Then maybe you'd better go back and figure this all out. Now GO BACK TO BED."
"So, you're back. Are you here for a while, or just a minute?" Gray-Blue Hair looked at her critically. They were standing in someone's living room. "I-I'm here for a little while, I guess. My mom made me go back to bed." Black-Hair stepped forward. He
held out his hand. "Hi, I'm Ryo." Emily shook his hand and said "Hi, I'm Emily." Blue-Hair stepped forward. He seemed to have recovered from the shock of a little girl appearing and vanishing right before his eyes. "Hi, I'm Rowen. Nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you too. S-sorry for scaring you." Emily apologized. Brown-Hair stepped forward. "Hi, I'm Cye." he grinned. "When I found Rowen I couldn't figure out what would make him faint. Then you appeared again and I nearly fainted." Blond-Hair stepped out from
behind Ryo. "Sage. Nice to meet you." She smiled warily at Sage when she shook his hand. Emily noticed Cye nudge Blue-Gray Hair and motioned towards her with his head. "himmynameis Kento..." was all she could decipher from his mumbling. "Hi." She
shook his hand. Just then, a girl walked in with a little boy of about six or seven behind her. Following them was a white tiger. Emily stifled a scream. "Don't worry, it's just White Blaze. He's tame," explained Ryo, seeing the look on Emily's face. "And that's
Mia and Yuli." "Nice to meet you. In case you're wondering, this is my living room we're in. We've heard all about you from the guys here." Mia shook Emily's hand. Yuli just stood behind her, staring and clutching White Blaze around the neck.
"Can...can any of you tell me what's going on?" Emily suddenly blurted. "I mean, you're SURE I'm not dreaming??" The guys nodded. "I don't understand it..." Rowen looked thoughtful. "So you only come here when you close your eyes, but apparently you
don't have to be asleep. How do you get back?" "Well, my mom was shaking me the first time," Emily looked doubtful."I see..." Suddenly Emily had a horrible thought. "OH MY GOD!!! WHAT IF I'M STUCK HERE FOREVER???!!! WHAT IF I CAN''T GET HOME??!!!!" "Try to open your eyes." Cye suddenly spoke up. "I mean, not the eyes you have here, but the eyes of the OTHER you. The one that's back where you live." She did. Suddenly, Emily was back in her room. She was lying in her bed, and her alarm clock was under her pillow, as usual. Pulling it out from under her pillow, she saw that it was only an hour since she had first gotten up. "Mommy?" she asked, hearing her mother's footsteps coming down the hall. "Yes? Did you go back? Did you meet them again?" her mother asked gently. Emily nodded. "They all gave me their names and we talked and then Cye--that's the brown-haired one--, Cye told me to try to open my REAL eyes, and I did, and then I came back here." "Well, don't worry, Dr.George is on his way. He should be here any minute now. He'll make it so that you don't go there anymore." Emily groaned. She needed a psychiatrist, not a pediatrician. Just then, there was a knock on the door. Judy, the family dog, started barking hysterically like she always did when someone was at the door. "That must be him now." Emily's mom got up and went
downstairs. Emily heard her mother talking with an unfamiliar voice. It wasn't Dr.George. She sighed and plopped back down. Sheclosed her eyes and--"Ooo! Head rush!" Emily stood up. She was in Mia's living room again. "Are you ok?" Sage looked
concerned. "Yeah," she said. "I just have a low blood pressure, so I get dizzy very easily. It's nothing to worry about." "Ok..." Sage still didn't look any less worried. "My mom called my doctor," Emily said. "She says he'll make it so that I stop coming here." All of the people in the living room looked a little bit disappointed. Suddenly, Emily began to flicker.
"I...guess...he's...here..." she said, and with that, she opened her eyes.
