Abandonment

I have always been your shelter. When hard times arose, I was at your side, holding you up, wiping away your tears, making you strong.

You call for me and I make the clock stop ticking, I throw my whole world up in the air and run to you.

But tonight I needed you, I called out to you and you did not come. The lightning struck me and you were not here to soothe my wounds, I had no shelter.

My body lies burnt and lifeless on the ground, freezing, and I am drowing in tears that go unwiped.

Where are you? Why do you not give me the same devotion and loyalty I give you. Why do you leave me like this?
