This poem was inspired by the Song "Me" by Paula
Cole.
I am not the person you see before you,
This is but my shell, the true me is harder to see, you have to look closer, dig deeper,
look through my eyes.
Mine is not the voice that you hear,
My song is much sweeter, clearer, and crisp.
The body you see is only a symbol, telling you about the things that I deal with, a
physical representation of my problems. My true form is that of the wind, for I am the
child of Air. I am the breeze that blows through your hair, the wind that causes the
storm.
The personality you think you know, is not real but a mere illusion. I am not strong and
brave, I am afraid and I am lonely.
Look closer, look past my eyes into the depths of my soul, can you see my pain, can you
see the frightened child, searching for his teddy bear??
Search deeper, can you feel my anger, bottled up and stored, can you feel the heat that
radiates from me?
Can you dive into the cool waters of my marble green eyes, and swim in the choppy waters??
Can you hear me? Do you feel me? Can you understand?
