The Rainbow Connection
A Tribute to Mica
Mica was a girl I met in my senior year of highschool at St. Ursula Academy in Toledo, OH.  I was a new transfer and it was really difficult to fit in with girls who had formed a bond with eachother over the first 3 years.  Very few of the girls I went to school with tried to get to know me, and very few made me feel comfortable around them.  Mica was different.  She always welcomed me to sit with her, and she and I would talk about what music we liked, and sometimes we'd sit and make fun of the Abercrombie&Fitch crowd.  Being that we were at an all-girls Catholic highschool, people like us were few and far between.  After highschool, we saw eachother infrequently.  We'd bump into eachother at restaurants and the grocery store, and she'd always take the time to talk to me.  Before Christmas 2000, she discovered that she had lupus after visiting the doctor for what she thought was a bad case of bronchitis and quickly fell into a coma.  Soon after, she ascended from this world.  I will always love her for the kindness she showed me, and I will never forget her sunny smile, and sweet dimples.  The world is better for her having been in it, and she has touched the heart of those she meets.  She is and will always be missed.  We Love You, Mica!

The Rainbow Connection
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told, some chose to believe it;
I know they're wrong; wait and see
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection;
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

Who said that ev'ry wish would be heard and
answed
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that,
And someone believed it;
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection;
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell;
We know that its probably magic.
Have you ever been half asleep and have you ever heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one in the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm s'posed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection;
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
