Jan. 25, 2000. I have a little more information about the movie The Beat Nicks but it sounds like E.R. has another small role. In this comedy two guys with the same name, Nick (Norman Reedus) and Nick (Mark Boone Junior) go to L.A. to get work. They meet a girl (Elodie Bouchez) and Eric Roberts plays her boyfriend.
I also heard that E.R. had a role in the new John Waters(!!) film called Cecil B. Demented. I have not been able to confirm this information and The Internet Movie Database does not list him in the credits for this film so if anyone has heard any more about it, please let me know.
Dec. 17, 1999. Eric worked on two new films this fall for release in 2000. One is a TNT made-for-TV movie scheduled for July 2000 called Gabriel's Run. It is set in the year 2017 when there is a black market in harvested human organs and smart/pretty children are kidnapped to be cloned.
The other film is called Quicksand in the Internet Movie Database but Eric called it Luck of the Draw in an interview. It also stars Dennis Hopper and Mickey Rourke who have worked with Eric before.
Dec. 7, 1999. I have just heard from the movie's producer, FrankyD, that the not-yet-released film Eric Roberts film The Replacement has had a name change and is now being called The Alternate. FrankyD didn't say and I didn't ask but I am guessing that this is to avoid confusion with the new Keanu Reeves film called The Replacements.

I just got email from the webmaster of the Matthias Hues Fan Page who is also pretty excited about Eric's new film The King's Guard. June 16, 1999. I'm about 1/2 way through watching Facade which should be available at your local video store today. It seems to be a comedy. Or else maybe it's just really weird. Eric's best line so far is when he's in bed with a girl and he says "Want to do it again? I can, you know! No down time!"
June 7, 1999. The following message appeared on Anne Rice's fan phone line. After saying how much she enjoyed watching Purgagory she said: "Anything with Eric Roberts is worth it. Twenty years ago, I was blown away by his performance in King of the Gypsies The producer, at that time, was hot for Roberts playing Louis in Interview with a Vampire, which of course did not come to pass. I doubt Roberts ever knew about it. Eric Roberts is not only powerfully skilled, he is a magnificent presence. I can't get enough of Eric Roberts."

February 7-14, 1999. A feature article by Randy Myers about movies that go straight to video appeared in many newspapers across the country this week. Eric Roberts was mentioned in the article. January 1999. What DAILY VARIETY said about Purgatory in the Jan. 8 issue: This simplistic but enchanting TNT Original Western asks the burning question, "Do gunslingers go to heaven?"Answer: Not if they have long hair, facial stubble and a tendency to swear, ruling out pretty much everyone who ever worked with Sam Peckinpah. Indeed, the importance of good grooming and clean language is the primary lesson imparted from a good vs. evil parable that's lent moody texture by director Uli Edel and raw energy by the incomparable Sam Shepard, and by Eric Roberts, who remains up there with John Malkovich in his ability to quietly inhabit the sinister loose-cannon role.

Somebody (besides me) thinks that the people at ABC made a poor decision when they cancelled C-16. Watch and wait for a C-16 movie from Fox 2000.
Starting Thursday, May 21, ABC will show the remaining episodes of C-16. When C-16 was cancelled, several episodes had been filmed but not yet aired. Those episodes are now back on the TV schedule. Watch your local listings for time.
There are two more upcoming movies in Eric Roberts' future. One is an independant film (not another cameo role, I hope) and the other is a TNT made for TV movie called Purgatory West of the Pecos. It's a western that also stars Sam Shepard. Apparently a group of desperados ride into a town full of Bible-thumpers who are look alikes of dead killers, bank robbers, etc. The town also includes some very hot ladies of the bordello persuasion!
