Ray Vecchio tossed down the paring knife in triumph. "Okay, Ma. The vegetables are all chopped. Do you need anything else before I go?"
"No, Raimondo. Thank you." Rosa sighed. "Must you really go into work today?"
"Yeah, Ma. It's pretty quiet down at the station today, and I it will give me a chance to get caught up on my paperwork. I have thirteen cases I'm working on, and the Lieutenant will have my hide if I don't make some progress soon. Don't worry, though. I'll be home in plenty of time for dinner."
"All right, Caro." Rosa smiled as Ray gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before heading out the door. Once outside, Ray jumped behind the wheel of the Riv and drove across town as quickly as he dared.
Instead of heading to the station house, however, he drove over to an apartment building. Disdaining the elevator, he hurried up the stairs, taking them two at a time, then rushed down the hallway and knocked impatiently at a certain apartment door until it was opened.
Ray was already removing his coat as he was dragged through the door and into the arms of an equally impatient man named Ray.
Together, Vecchio and Kowalski stumbled into the bedroom, kissing fervently and removing clothes as they went. They tumbled onto the bed, Vecchio landing beneath Kowalski.
One Ray smiled up at the other. "Happy Thanksgiving, Stanley Ray."
"Happy Thanksgiving, just plain Ray. God, it's good to see you. How long can you stay?"
"About three hours." He sighed heavily. "Will that be long enough?"
"It will have to be. So, does your Mother really think you're working?"
Vecchio shrugged. "That's the story I tell her, and that's the story she choses to believe. But let's not waste time talking."
He drew the blond man down for a kiss, then suddenly pulled away. "Did you get everything?"
Kowalski nodded, and Ray grinned happily.
"I'll be right back." Kowalski said, his own grin matching Vecchio's.
He disappeared into the bathroom for a moment and returned leading a very excited, happy, and somewhat nervous looking Mountie by the hand.
Ray sat up as the other two men knelt to join him on the bed.
"Are you sure this is part of the American tradition?" Asked Fraser.
