Monday morning I was supposed to go in for a scan to see how everything was holding up (because I was 12 days overdue). Instead I ended up being induced. I'd been in established labour for only 3 hours when I felt the overwhelming urge to push. Both my mum and nana and also my midwife had gone away to have some dinner because they thought it'd be a long time before anything interesting started to happen.
I told the nurse in charge that I had to push..."oh no you dont" she said. "Oh Yes I DO!!" I said.
What followed was lots of intense pushing that amounted to nothing. My beautiful son had got stuck and so couldnt come down allowing me to give birth to him naturally. This meant I was quickly rushed off to surgery where at 8.16pm I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. He weighed 8lbs 6ozs and was severely over cooked. Due to the pressure from all the pushing his head was also extra long. Thankfully by the next morning this had returned to normal.
I only stayed in hospital for two days. Silly me. Thankfully I've been blessed with a really good baby. He only really cries when he's hungry. When he wakes up, rather than grizzle he just gazes around. (This was written in the beginning.....now, while he is still a good baby he is also not so quiet!! He has definately found his lungs and has no problems showing me!!)
Im totally in awe and so completely in love. And, as all mothers do, I think he is absolutely gorgeous, despite the fact that he so obviously looks like his father. Hehehehe.
