wolf
due South -
[PG] for barely even hinted at M/M slash between Ben and RayK.
Contains spoilers for pre-'due South.'
Disclaimer: dS characters aren't mine, so the voices tell me.
But I never listen.
Once upon a time there was a Mountie who loved his
tunic of red serge so much, he would almost never wear
anything else. He and his deaf half-wolf had ventured
out of the woods on the trail of the killers of his father
into the city where they met a pasta-loving, silk-wearing
blind fox. The fox, who despite his most prominent feature
couldn’t see what was right in front of him, helped the Mountie
catch the killers.
The Mountie missed the woods but he had his red serge and
the ghost of his father to remind of home. And there were
plenty of rats to catch, so he stayed in the city. He lived
happily with the merest crumbs the fox granted him and
considered the hovel he lived in a luxury. His half-wolf
seemed to really enjoy the rat hunts but not as much as
the pastry the blind fox fed him.
Sometimes, the Mountie would return to the woods but would
always hurry back to the city and the blind fox. Once, after
his return, there was a strange scruffy wolf in the blind fox’s
den…and everyone called the wolf by his friend’s name. The
Mountie knew that the strange wolf didn’t look, sound, dress,
smell, or act like his friend but he did seem to be just as blind.
But the Mountie didn’t know this scruffy wolf was crafty; he wore
glasses and wasn’t blinded by red serge.
