Illustrators Hall Of Fame

Here is a small part of what's to come on my "real" site.
While browsing the web I've came to realize that good quality images of good artists are difficult to find. Not that they aren't on the web (some of them aren't indeed) but because people are blatantly selling them over the web. They browse a little, download the images and then make a CD-rom which they sell over the same web that allowed them to collect these images at the first place.

I find that extremely sleazy and greedy, because the web is not ment to work that way. It's not like these guys are the original publishers or hold the copyright. They're simply pirats.

And I know wery well that there are thousands of artists out there who haven't had a possibility to see that artwork for one reason, or another.

For them I'm doing this page.

I also know that the best way to learn how to paint is to copy. I remember those days very well, when I was desperately searching for Frazetta, but, there wasn't any to be found. Not in communism. Only Lenin there. So, this page will be a reference for illustrators. You want Frazetta? No problem. Hildenbrant brothers? Sure. Howe? Be my guest. How much? Nothing.

I've registered seventeen domain names (.com) and I'm making fifteen mirror sites. Because the copyright hyennas are known to intervene every once in a while.

Copyright interceptors, huh?

Well, you gready bastards, aren't you ashamed of earning money on Howard Pyle almost a hundred years after his death? Pyle must be turning in his grave. Like a ventilator. Wouldn't you like young artists to see the great Pyle and learn something from maestro? Sure, but only  if you can charge it.

In Germany they charge fourteen DM for a museum ticket.
They also charge 5DM for an hour on the internet. (that was a year ago, when I lived there. Now is cheaper. Four).
Most of this "companies" mentioned above are German.
How significant.

But, I'll tell you what. I'm declaring you "Web Wars". Catch me if you can. Eins, zwei Polizei, drei, fier Grenadier.

I have so much things to do, but I'll try and prepare some of the images soon. These are some of the names included. Right now I have around 170 illustrators and each one will be represented with, at least, 25-30 images. Some of them will have much more.

By the way. Do you, gentle reader, know any German artist, living or dead?  We won't count Adolf here, who could've been a great artist if he didn't choose politics. (A little hint: Guttenberg wasn't an artist. He was a printer) You don't? Well I do.
Both of them.

This is only a small part of what's to come. Once finished (and it'll never be) this will be the most complete index for illustrators on the web. But it'll take long time to prepare all the images. So, in the meantime, if you're looking for that particular artist/illustrator you can't find, let me know. I'll see what I can do.
