David SelbyBorn in Morgan Town, West Virginia, on February 5, 1941, David Selby has brought depth and character to the complex and layered character of Richard Channing. Nemisis to Angela and Chase, Richard's less devious side was explored through his relationship with Maggie and later Lauren Daniels.

A graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Selby holds a PhD in theatre, which gave him the opportunity to appear in many Broadway and off-Broadway productions. Selby starred with Jane Alexander in the Broadway production of "The Heiress" and worked off-Broadway in such productions as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Forensic & The Navigators," and "The Unseen Hand." His theater credits include work at the Doolittle Theater in "Money and Friends," the Washington Theater in "Much Ado About Nothing," the Los Angeles Theater Company in "Night of the Iguana" and "The Crucible," and the Shakespeare Festival in "Sticks and Bones."

After working in theatre, Selby moved on to daytime drama with a starring role as Quentin Collins on Dark Shadows, a role for which he gained much stardom. Selby recently returned to New York fan convention in honour of Dark Shadows.

A string of tv-movies and a role in the feature film 'Raise The Titanic' followed, until Selby joined the cast of the short-lived prime-time soap, 'Flamingo Road'. The show folded soon after and Selby joined the cast of 'Falcon Crest' as Richard Channing in 1982 and continued with the show until its demise in 1990. Selby won a Soap Opera Digest Award as Outstanding Villain for the role.

Selby continued acting on tv after 'Falcon Crest' ended, starring in the mini-series 'Jackie Collins' Lady Boss', as well as in feature films with roles in 'Dying Young' in 1991, 'Intersection' in 1994, 'Headless Body In A Topless Bar' in 1995 and 'White Squall' in 1996. Selby has recently returned to television starring as Xavier Trout in the syndicated series 'Soldier of Fortune'.

Selby resides in Los Angeles with his wife Claudeis and their three children.
