He divorced his wife after falling in love with his co-star , Eva LaRue, and the couple married in 1996, the same year he appeared in the motion picture, 'Marvin's Room'.

He portrayed the character Eric Stavros, the playboy son of Cesar Romero, on 'Falcon Crest' for nearly three years. Prior to that, Callahan appeared on ABC's daytime drama, 'General Hospital as Leo Russell, a master masseur.

In addition to his serial work, Callahan had a recurring role on the ABC series, 'Our Family Honor' and made numerous guest appearances on prime-time series, including 'Murder, She Wrote', 'Three's Company', 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers', 'Fantasy Island' and 'Hotel'.
