Jane Wyman Health Update Dick O'Neill dead at age 70 Andrea Thompson Stalker Jailed Susan Sullivan nominated for Golden Globe Susan Sullivan (Maggie Gioberti Channing, 1981-1989) has ended a successful year in rewarding fashion with the announcement on Tuesday of her nomination for a Golden Globe Award, fourteen years after Jane Wyman won a Golden Globe for her role as Angela Channing. The nomination, from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, is for Sullivan's role in the ABC sitcom, 'Dharma & Greg', where Sullivan portrays Kitty Montgomery, an uppercrust socialite. Other nominees in the category of Supporting Actress (Series, Miniseries or Movie Made for Television) are Helena Bonham Carter (Merlin), Faye Dunaway (Gia), Jane Krakowski (Ally McBeal), Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me) and Camryn Manheim (The Practice). The nomination comes on top of a nomination earlier this year for the same role from the Viewers of Quality Television Awards. Sullivan received two Emmy nominations in the 1970s for her roles in Rich Man, Poor Man Book II and the Having Babies tv movies.
Jane Wyman Health Update Falcon Crest - A Tribute is pleased to report Jane Wyman (Angela Channing) is in good spirits and doing well in her retirement in Palm Springs, California. This is despite a local Palm Springs paper, The Desert Sun, publishing a story about Maureen Reagan (Wyman's daughter to ex-husband Ronald Reagan) which incorrectly said Wyman had passed away. The paper published a retraction the next day, and Wyman, according to a tabloid paper, "got a good laugh" from the incident. Wyman had earlier written the Deutscher Falcon Crest Fanclub thanking them for their support but stating she was not interested in returning to shoot an FC reunion, and was happily ensconsed in her retirement. Dick O'Neill: 1928-1998 Dick O'Neill (Inspector Fred Wilkinson, 1987), whose nearly half-century in entertainment included roles ranging from Santa Claus on Fresh Prince of Bel Air to Detective Chris Cagney's father on Cagney & Lacey, died Nov 17 at the age of 70. Although his long list of television credits also include such hit series as Home Improvement, Cybill, Family Matters and M-A-S-H, O'Neill may be best known for his recurring role as Charlie Cagney, father of the police detective played by Sharon Gless.
He was also a familiar face on Cheers, Trapper John, M.D., Falcon
Crest, Magnum P.I. and Mad About You. O'Neill's film credits include The Front Page, The Jerk, Wolfen, Prizzi's Honor and MacArthur. (Source: Associated Press)
Andrea Thompson Stalker Jailed An Italian fashion designer was sentenced to two years in prison yesterday and faces deportation for stalking actress Andrea Thompson (Genele Ericson, 1989-90, right, with Gregory Harrison) of NYPD Blue. Gianluigi Assennato, 34, pleaded guilty earlier this year to felony stalking and could have faced up to eight years behind bars. Thompson, 38, of Beverly Hills, began dating Assennato shortly after she asked him to design a dress for her for the Emmy Awards. Friends and supporters of Assennato asked L.A. County Superior Court Judge Frank Johnson to show mercy, arguing that Assennato and Thompson were going through a rough breakup. But prosecutors painted a different picture, saying that Assennato relentlessly terrorized the TV cop for six months, making threats to her and her child and slashing her tires. Thompson also said Assennato made in-person threats.
The statuesque, blonde Thompson stars on ABC's gritty cop drama NYPD Blue as
Det. Jill Kirkendall, a sensitive, no-nonsense cop who usually partners with
Det. Russell (Kim Delaney). Before her breakout role on NYPD Blue, Thompson had roles on Babylon 5,
JAG and Falcon Crest. Thompson was unavailable for comment after Assennato was sentenced. (Source: New York Post)
