I am the producer of the film, The Investigation. In September 2000, when Where Shadows Linger: The Untold Story of the RCMP's Olson Murders Investigation, was published, the reaction of the press and the public was near unanimous praise for the meticulous detailing of the flaws that occurred in the investigation of the Clifford Olson case.

I undertook this project because I felt the book offered a rare insight into the inner workings of an important public institution, the RCMP. Moreover, I was concerned that many of the morale, bureaucratic and organizational problems that negatively affected the case might still exist.

It comes as no surprise to anyone reasonably intelligent that both the lead investigator of the case and the official RCMP spokesperson are both strongly opposed to this film being made. But where were the quotes from the many Mounties now retired who felt the investigation was flawed? It is the equivalent of asking Richard Nixon if he was in favour of the Watergate investigation without asking anyone else.

All of us involved with the project are aware off the sensitive issues involved in the case. That is why our focus throughout the film is on the police investigation. I strongly believe this is a story well worth telling.
