Alki David, director and actor of 'The Freediver', kindly talks to All About Adam Baldwin about 'The Freediver'.
Q. Thank you for doing this Q&A! Can you please tell us about The Freediver, your role in it and how the film came to being?
A. The Freediver is based on the true and tragic story of Greek freediver Danai Varveri . She is plucked from obscurity and trained to become the undisputed men and women's champion of the world.
I wrote and directed the film based on the experiences I had training the real life Danai in the mid to late 90's.
Q. How did Adam get cast as Dr. Viades and were you pleased with his final performance?
A. Adam was introduced to me through a mutual friend Judd Nelson who said that Adam could act the pants off the part... He wasn't joking.
Q. Adam has a large fanbase that have seen the trailer for The Freediver and are eagerly awaiting the release. Can we expect to see The Freediver anytime soon?
A. The film is playing at the Malibu Film Festival this September and then on general release throughout the world in spring 2005.
Q. If you have your way, will the DVD have any extras or have any been filmed especially for the DVD release? If so, does Adam feature?
A. Adam features in the epk of the film that will accompany the DVD.
Q. Would you ever like to work with Adam Baldwin again or do you perhaps plan to?
A. Adam is fantastic. I sincerely mean that. I have a lot of love and respect for him and plan to work with him on my next project of which I have two in development THE GOOD BROTHER and UNTITLED.
