My life was once filled
with nothing but pain and sorrow
For abuse and anger
was what I looked forward to tomorrow
I finally found the strength
to set myself free
But it took all that I had
Deep down inside of me
Now as free as a dove
I was ready to fly
But all I could do
Was watch my life pass by
For my life was no longer
Filled with abuse and anger
It was filled with many walls to climb
And a big lonely world surrounded by danger
Just when I was ready to give in
And give up the fight
I met you
And I saw the world in a different light
You captured my heart
You set my soul free
Allowing me to enjoy life
As it was meant to be
Whether it be your smile your touch
Or your bright cheery way
I can now look forward to tomorrow
and live for today
You taught me how to live
You taught me the joy of a smile
Thanks to you
I know I can walk that extra mile
I cant thank you enough
For walking into my life
For my heart is filled with joy
No longer pain and strife

A special gift to the man
