An Interview with "Marionette Massacre" Star, Will Huxtable
Q: Out of all the movies you were offered, what made you pick this script?
A: Well, after doing "Reefer Madness 2", I was offered WAY too many drug dealer roles. When the offer to be in my first horror movie arose, I took it.
Q: You weren't concerned that the film might be compared to the Chucky films?
A: A little at first, but when I saw how different it really was, that all went away. That little marionette still gives me the creeps sometimes...when I remember what it looks like.
Q: So did you do any research to prepare for your role?
A: I just rented a couple of horror movies that made me scared...like the first two movies in the "Halloween" series...and basically just watched the actor reaction to their situations and surroundings.
Q: Is there any similarities between your character and yourself?
A: That time in my life is still a bit hazy, if you know what I mean.
Q: Now this is the movie where you've said you became addicted to drugs and alcohol, how did that affect you life, personally and professionally?
A: Well, once it was out that I was an abuser my agent received less and less offers for me to look over. The low point professionally, was when my agent dumped me from his roster. I'm surprised that Crapola Pictures still cast me as the lead in "Psycho Killer Hermit Guy". Personally, my life fell apart. All my friends noticed the change in myself and distanced themselves from me. I never went out for months. And if I did go out, it was to get more pills and booze.
Q: And now you've kicked the habit?
A: Yes I have, thank God. I felt I owed it to myself and people I loved. The booze, drugs, all of it made me numb...ineffectual. My first movie I made, it was fun. Now I want filming to be fun again, because for awhile it wasn't...it was just go to the set...cook up...read your lines over once...do the scene...repeat. Well I decided to go clean during the filming of "Son of a Gun" because it was another action packed thriller like "PKHG". And I knew filming would be gruelling, and that I would not be able to handle it on drugs, so I went cold turkey. It was very tough on the set the first week, all the grips will tell you that(laughs). But I'm glad I did it because now I see things in a better, stronger light.
