Ok, so I tried to get all the items. If I missed some, don't be a tuna head about it. I'm working on it.
In Maniac Mansion, if you can't take something it's either too big or it's nailed down. Man, these kids are kleptos.
- Glowing Key
- Why the hell is this thing glowing? Maybe it has been in a RADIOACTIVE environment. Opens the outer door to Fred's 'secret' lab.
- Tools
- These come in handy when you want to fix things...FOR REAL!
- Cheese
- Hmm...maybe Weird Ed or his hampster would enjoy these...if you don't get them before he does. However, if you do, you can exchange them for a little trust and avoid a trip to the dungeon.
- Lettuce
- Good in salads. But that doesn't help you stop the Meteor. Feed it to someone/something.
- Glass Jar
- Very useful for carrying liquids around.
- Film
- Don't let Michael overexpose this...it could be important.
- Record
- Don't play this with any antique vases around. Also repels mosquitos and rats (and about everything else).
- Broken Record
- Plays a sorta catchy tune.
- Radioactive Water & Regular Water
- Water can be found in the kitchen and Radioactive Water can be found in the pool. I do NOT suggest microwaving radioactive water...for your own good. I warned you!
- Tentacle Chow
- Best food available for your pet tenticle.
- Fruit Drinks
- Best served chilled. Nobody but Green wants them, though.
- Wax Fruit
- A tentacle's favorite food...very filling.
- Paint Brush
- Useless...unless you are an aspiring artist
- Flashlight
- Go figure!
- Old Batteries
- These power your incredibly handy flashlight.
- Batteries
- Good bateries are much more useful in a radio.
- Paint Remover
- Try to give it to Green. If he WON'T drink it, keep it so that you may help Bob Vila redecorate this aweful house.
- Cassette Tape
- You could record something...perhaps a DEMO TAPE?
- Silver Key
- Just a key.
- Yellow Key
- Just another key that happens to fit the Edsel.
- Rusty Key
- Makes escaping from the dungeon just a tad easier.
- Small Key
- Makes video games a lot cheaper.
- Canned Goods
- The Green Tenticle would probably enjoy these if he wasn't on a 'high-wax' diet.
- Envelope
- If you put an ENVELOPE containing a QUARTER inside a MICROWAVE and turned it on, why wouldn't it blow up the microwave?
- Water Faucet Handle
- Allows you to turn on the water, right?
- Demo Tape
- Send it to the studio to get Green into a big-name band.
- Manuscript
- Memoirs of the Meteor. This work is garbage, though. Have Wendy add her two cents.
- Hamster
- Ed's pal. I suggest you not mess with this or the piggy bank while he's around. Otherwise, he'll get a little agitated.
- Card Key
- Gets you a personal audience with the Meteor himself.
- Radio Tube
- Bernard'll get a kick out of this. After he cannabalizes the radio, you can dial long distance (collect!).
- Sponge
- Soaks up liquids like a Hoover vacuum.
- Pepsi
- DO NOT give this to Green. It is necessary to later calm down an overgrown weed.
- Commando Package
- Ed's package. Don't you dare open it..that's a federal offense!
- Stamps
- Not only does this game promote opening other peoples mail, it also suggests that we attempt to rip-off the US Postal Service. What's the world coming to?
- Developing Fluid
- Use this to develop film.
- Badge
- Why, yes, I am one of the Meteor Police!
- Quarter
- What a coincidence! The video games cost a quarter! Also useful for buying Pepsi at the last minute.
- Dime
- These four dimes would be really useful in a powerful telescope. If you save your money, you can read a number and then see a monster.
- Developing Fluid
- Use this to develop film.
- Record Contract
- Give this to your pal, Green Tenticle.
Things that DO fall into the 'nailed down or too big' category
- Hunk-O-Matic
- It doesn't do much for Ted, but he does look pretty good for a four-hundred year old dead guy. Give it a try.
- CD Player
- These aren't ordinary CD Players...these play only CRAP! But still, if you try and give one away, the kids get mighty fiesty!
- Water Valve
- Turns on/off the house's water supply.
- Old Radio
- Let Bernard check this antique out.
- Microwave
- One of the more fun 'toys' in the game. Try cooking stuff...radioactive water, maybe? It helps to open things stuck shut, also.
- Telescope
- For 10 cents, you can see whatever you want.
- Tape Recorder
- Well, it allows you to (wow) record tapes!
- Tape Player
- And with this nifty device, you can play back your oh-so-important recordings.
- Victrolia
- I have to agree with Sid here. "Its an old fashioned record player (I know, the record player is old fashioned, too. Just go with it)".
- Video Game(s)
- The games look really fun, however only Meteor Mess seems to work. Is it just me, or does Mess have the same music as Super Mario Bros. One ?
- Piano
- The person that said "music soothes the savage beast" obviously never heard this piano played.
- Refrigerator
- Is your refrigerator running? You better be running too because Edna seems to enjoy staring into the fridge at the beginning of the game.
- Circuit Breakers
- Don't turn this off unless you want to get captured, fix something electrical, or nuke the house. 'You mean those sirens are a BAD thing?'
- Piggy Bank
- Isn't Ed a little too old for this stuff? Once again, don't touch it if he's around.
- Pool
- Great place to lay out and catch some rays. However, you could probably get a better suntan in the pool!
- Short Wave Radio
- Who needs Sprint's Dime-a-minute plan when you have this thing. Reach out and touch somebody.
- Radio
- Ditto.
- Television
- Enjoy channel -13 for as long as you like. However, you'll get sorta tired of watching 3 Guys Who'll Publish Anything..."And Don't Forget The Stamps!"
- Typewriter
- What would YOU do with it?
- Mailbox
- Send and receive things here. Don't forget the stamps.
- Man Eating Plant
- One of the several oddities in the house (besides the family). It could be fun to climb, if it was only bigger.
- Phone
- For a good time call Edna at....NO THANKS!
- Wires
- Easy to fix if the power is off. If not....
