Alferd Packer
In the summer of 2004 I was cast to play the role of the notorious Colorado cannibal
Alferd Packer in a local production of "The Last Trial of Alferd Packer". A jury of twelve audience members found me not guilty for the entire ten show run; much to the chagrin of the cast who were eager to see me hang.
As fate would have it National Geographic was coming to town to film a documentary about old Al, and since we already had our own Packer, I was cast to play him in the re-enactments. The documentary is part of a forensic anthropology series entitled "Skeleton Crew" produced by New Dominion Pictures. These photos were taken during the shoot in Lake City, and feature Jodi Linsey, Joe Marshall, Ed Campbell, Ellis Linsey, Scott Linsey, Bruce Curry, Grant Houston and Director Joe Wiecha. In September I went to Suffolk VA to complete the shoot.
At the end of August the
"Al Packer Lost Camp Expedition"
came to Lake City to search for more evidence. At the same time, Engel Bros. Media came to Lake City to film the Packer story for a documentary about cannibalism for the History Channel. Once again I get to play Packer.
