Olympic gold medalist Dominique Moceanu reached a financial agreement with her father and dissolved a protective order against him, ending a public family squabble.
The agreement, signed Thursday by Family Law Judge Patricia Lykos, was kept secret.
``This has been an extremely difficult time for my family, and I hope that we can now begin to move forward in support of one another,'' the 17-year-old gymnast said in a statement.
``I know that deep down my father loves me, and of course I love him, so I need to find a way in my heart to give him forgiveness. I hope there is a chance that some day things in my family can be normal again.''
The family fight erupted publicly last October, when Dominique sued for her independence, saying her father, Dumitru Moceanu, had squandered the money she had earned in a 10-year professional career. She was declared a legal adult Oct. 29.
Her father has said all of his daughter's earnings went into building a 70,000-square-foot gym with Dominique's blessings. He has refused to say how much the gym cost, but his attorney Katherine Scardino said it was about $2 million.
Dominique sought and won a court order on Dec. 9 that kept her father at least 500 feet away after police said they were investigating Dumitru, 44, for allegedly trying to hire killers to murder two of his daughter's friends. He denied the allegation.
Dominique's parents could not be reached by The Associated Press.
