On Saturday, July 8th, Polaris Amphitheate witnessed the
evolutio of Boyz II Men, the soulful, sultry hip-hop of
Mary J. Blige, and the powerful voice of Montell
Jordan.
Then the lights went down and the stage became opaque,
awaiting, Boyz II Men.
Opening with the jovial charm of "U Know" from their second
album entitled II, Nathan, Michael, Shawn, and Wanya,
captivated the audience with pyrotechnics, oneshire grins
and precision harmonies.
Then the evolution began.
The fireworks were replaced by four men standing in
tailored white suits and snakeskin shoes, reminisent of
groups like the Four Tops and the Temptations. Boyz II Men
gracefully, enraptured the auidence with the song, "I'll
Make Love to You." Immediately following that they
performed another one of their ballads, "Water Runs Dry."
The crowd hypnotized by the four young men from
Philadelphia, PA, suddenly stood bewildered by the rainfall
which cascaded from the ceiling of the Amphitheater. But
that was only a foreshadowing of what was to come.
During the following song "50 Candles" dozens of
luminescent candles emerged from beneath the stage.
As the evolution of Boyz II Men continued, they returned to
the stage with the same energy a they entered but wit a
comedic twist.
They closed the show with "End of the Road" the record
breaking ballad that transformed Boyz II Men.
A stunning, complete, magical performance.
