If there was such a thing as the Nobel Prize for Pop Music, Philadelphia natives Boyz II Men would have won it after the release of their debut album, Cooleyhighharmony.
The album (which sold a mere 7 million copies worldwide) won two Grammys, three American Music Awards, two Soul Train Awards, and two NAACP Image Awards, among others.
To foil the dreaded sophmore jinx, the Boyz went into the studio with a small army of producers, including such heavyweights as Babyface and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and came out with II, their second album for Motown Records.
II, which spawned such hits as the syrupy "Water Runs Dry" and "I'll Make Love to You," already has sold 8 million copies and is another gold mine (or should we say platinum mine?)
