Honest to a Fault: Michael McCary

Michael's fun and he's all about what's best for the group in general; he's also so honest that it hurts. There's no doubt about it when you're anywhere near Michael "Bass" McCary. His signature deep bass voice will give him away every time, so will his honesty. Don't ask him a question if you don't want to hear the truth. He won't tell you something to insult you, but unless you can handle truth, honesty, and criticism, don't even bother to ask Michael. He'll surely tell you all that you want to hear and then some! During interviews, you'll notice him sitting in the background, scoping everything going on. Don't sleep on him because he's not saying much. Watch out because when he doesn't speak, it's prolific.

Another very important feature that distinguishes Mike from his groupmates is that he's that cool one who carries the walking stick. Everyone thinks that he carries it to give him a sophisticated image. NOT! He orginally began carrying it because he claims to be clumsy, falling over everything to the point of injuring his legs and ankles-so he found that walking with a walking stick was the best way for him to have the best balance. Eventually, Micheal and that walking stick beame one-you wouldn't see him without it. Now, it serves as a part of his fashion statement because it has given him a newfound confidence because he can now walk arounnd and not worry about injuring himeself.

A man of a few words, Michael's cautious to a point becuase he always evaluates the situation before he makes his move or says something. But when he does, you can take it to the bank because it's so on point. In their Then II Now long form-video, Michael talks about having wanted to get into the professional music arena for quite a while. However, he just wathed and waited and learned all that he could. When the opportunity presented itself, he was ready. He says, "The high point of my career has been getting a record deal, and living my dream."

When Michael's not putting something together for the group or actually performing, you'd probably find him at home. He's a self-confessed homeboy. The simplest things make him happy. He concludes, "I like to watch movies, shop for clothes, play basketball, play pool, write music, ride around my neighborhood and just look at Philly. I also love to spend time with my family."

Speaking of family, Michael is adamant about keeping his family seperate from the music business. He states, "We don't want to bring our families into our lifestyle. We want them to have their own lifestyle. We don't want our families to be hassled or bothered in any way. We love singing, but we also realize that they're not entertainers. We are!"

He's a motor-mouth when you're speaking with him one-to-one, but oh so obsevative during group interviews and larger press functions...but that's just the complexity of Michael McCary.
