Everybody loves Boyz II Men, but who do Nate, Wanya, Shawn, and
Michael love? Or do they have a love at this time in their
lives? Find out that and more in an exclusive Fresh!
interview.
Fresh!: Since you have a smash album and are traveling all
over the nation, do you find that the ladies are more
interested in you now?
Nate: (laughing) I don't know about "more." We get a
chance to meet a lot of nice ladies. We consider that a
privledge. I have to say we have met a lot of very nice
people who have gone out of their way to benice to us when
they really didn't have to be.
Fresh!: You know some of the readers would like to know
what you look for in a ladyfriend since all of you are
elgiable bachelors.
Nate: I think all of us basically look for the same thing
in a girlfriend-sensitivity, intelligence, a girl who has
goals and ambition, a caring person, someone who likes to
have fun and laugh. Also, to be involved with an
entertainer is hard. Entertainers are rarely home and some
people can't handle that. Plus, the fans are important us
and a girlfriend cannot be jealous an that's hard, too.
The life of an entertainer is different, but it is the life
we wanted and worked hard for, so a girlfriend has to be
understanding and supportive. Sometimes it's not fair, but
it is the way it is. I think that's why it is important
for a girl to have a career of her own. Then she would
understand the pressure. All of us are still looking for
the right lady.
Fresh!: Would you ever date a fan?
Nate: Fans are probably more understanding than some
others. Yes, of course, if the situation was right.
Fresh!: A lot of readers want to be like Boyz II Men and let's say
those readers have a lot of talent. Do you have some words
of wisdom for those who would like to follow in your
footsteps.
Nate: I would advise that they get a tape to Biv
Entertainment. I'm serious. Michael Bivins gave us our
start. He put us in the studio and let us record the kind
of music we love. He understands because he's been there.
He's an artist, too, and that's important. He understands
the creative mind and the creative process. So, my words
of wisdom would be to some how, some way, get your demo
tape to Michael Bivins. He's always looking for new, young
talent, and he's willing to help. Boyz II Men and Another Bad
Creation are just the beginning for Biv Entertainment.
Fresh!: Do you suggest sending to a special address?
Nate: I would send it to Motown Records, Attn: Michael
Bivins at Biv Entertainment. Mike listens to a lot of
people. He's got his finger on the pulse like no one else
right now.
Fresh!: In the future, does Boyz II Men want to produce other
acts?
Nate: Yes. We want to do it all, but we also know we have
to take it one step at a time. We are very thankful that
our first album took off like it did. It is wonderful that
enough people like our music to make it number one. We
plan to keep giving the people more good music and helping
others get started, too.
Fresh!: Is Philly still home?
Nate: Philly will always be home. I like a lot of cities,
however. Wherever you find nice people, I like it, you
know?
Fresh!: Any last words to the Fresh! readers?
Nate: Just thank you for making us number one. We
appreciate their support. There is absolutely nothing like
performing live for people who want to hear you sing and
that for Boyz II Men would like to thank all the fans. When you
walk out on that stage and hear people screaming for you,
it's the most wonderful high in the world. It makes you
perform your very best because you don't want to let the
fans down. We love them for being there.
