Boyz II Men is often named as one of the favorite bands of Boppers when the mail pours in. So before you ask, we thought we'd answer some questions many of you probably have.
Do the Boyz ever fight?
Oh, sure. But Shawn Stockman, Nathan Morris, Michael McCary, and Wanya Morris don't fight over democracy, love, or the American way, or anything grand and glorious. They fight over..."stupid things," Nathan has said. "We tend to add drama to little situations. It's like someone will say something, and for a split second you'll take it personally, and all the emotions in your life just come out."
Are Nathan and Wanya brothers?
Only in the sense that we're all brothers on good ol' planet Earth. Many fans alrady know this, but some still don't: Not only are Nathan Morris, and Wanya Morris not brothers, they're not even related.
Do Boyz II Men ever feel more like Men Who Were Boyz?
Sometimes, especially when singing next to their younger counterparts. Although the Boyz are all in their early to mid-20's, Wanya tells us that when they compare themselves to singers such as the teenage Brandy and Monica, then they can't help but have adult thoughts like: "Man, hese kids are young!" But there doesn't seem to be any competion whatsoever between the girls and the boyz.
What's the first thing the boyz do when they finish a concert?
"It depends," Wanya says. "Sometimes we go to our rooms and crash or hang out or sometimes we hang out with everybody else. But it depends on what the cause is-how everybody is feeling after the show or if someone comes up with something to do. You know, it varies."
How does Boyz II Men create a song?
There's no one-size-fits-all method to their approach, but the basic steps and ingredients to making a Boyz II Men hit go something like this:
Step One: Nate, Michael, Shawn, and Wanya brainstorm on some ideas, and they seize on an idea one of them has, perhaps to do an upbeat tune about love.
Step Two: The group agrees on that idea.
Step Three: At least one member of Boyz II Men writes the lyrics and the melody; the group fiddles with the lyrics and the melody until they all agree it's great.
Step Four: The pull out the drums and start mixing the beat. Eggs optional.
Step Five: They sing, seeing how the voices blend with the lyrics, the melody and the beat.
Step Six: Next, for flavor, any additional instruments are added.
Step Seven: Bake for 90 minutes at 325 degrees until done.
