One group that will certainly remain on the hit list for a long time is Boyz II Men! With their smooth harmonies and natural talent, these four will go down in history as one of the greatest music groups of all time! One of the quartet, Shawn Stockman, took some time out of his busy schedule to answer some of our Q's! Here's what he said...
TP: Growing up, who were your musical influences?
Shawn: Michael Jackson, was one, Marvin Gaye, he was another. I was into music when I was young, but I wasn't into necessarily one person or two people. I just listened to all types of music, anything that was on TV at the time.
TP: Did you ever dream you would one day be a part of such a successful siging group?
Shawn: No, not at all! But I did have some sort of an aspiration of just wanting to be in the business somehow. I did want to be a singer. I didn't really think about to what magnitude, but I did want to be a performer of some sort. But we did it! And I'm definetly happy about that. A lot of people tend to have dreams and goals and stuff like that. I'm happy that I'm blessed enough to have my dream come true!
TP: What did you think is the best thing about being in the music indusrty?
Shawn: The attention!
TP: Really?! How so?
Shawn: It's good to have the attention that's granted by people. What I mean by attention is not necessarily wanting to talk to you per say, but just going to your shows, and being acknowledged when I'm just walking down the street. Stuff like that, those little things make you feel good because that's what you do it for! It's not just for you personal fulfillment of liking music. You want to hear response from people and it's just been really positive so far!
TP: Of all the Boyz II Men songs, which is your favorite?
Shawn: To be honest, and I'm not just saying this because they're our songs, I like them all for different reasons. All of our songs have distinct personalities that you can get into for whatever mood you're in. For example, if you're in a real uppity, party-like mood, you can put on either "Motownphilly" or "Vibin'" something like that. If you're in a real mellow mood, you can put on "Water Runs Dry." All those songs have different personalities for different moods.
TP: Great! Thanks Shawn!
Shawn: Thank you!
