In just a few short years, the artists behind 1991's
Cooleyhighharmony and last year's II have experienced
fame and then some. Did former Philadelphia high-school
classmates Michael McCary, Shawn Stockman, Nathan Morris,
and Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men set out to achieve fame and
fortune?
Here's what Wanya tells us...
"Actually, we didn't go into this saying that we were going
to get famous or anything like that. We just wanted to
sing and wanted to make good music, you know? We didn't
have any perception of the fans and how much money that you
could make and how much people will like you, or even about
radio stations and Top 10 lists. We had no perception of
that at all. What we did was basically just sing good
music. We prayed that we could be big like New Edition and
Guns 'N Roses. We'd see a video where a crowd of people
would scream, and we'd say we want to be like that. But
other than that (everything was a surprise).
Definetly."
