Stand By Me (1986)
Rated: R
Starring: Whil Wheaton, River Pheonix and Corey Feldman
Written and Based on the Book by: Stephen King
Directed by: Rob Reiner
This story based on the book by Stephen King is a bit more psychological than horror (Which he is famous for) Its about four kids that search through the oregon country for a boys body who died. Along the way they learn that life is tougher than it seems.
Gordie Lachance (Wheaton) is dealing with the lost of his best friend (His brother) who died. Gordie's parents had more attention to his brother than to him. Teddy Duchamp is dealing with people who say things about his father that he doesn't want to believe. Dealing with life's troubles this has been the movie that all other movies of similar style are based on. For instance the movie "October Sky" had a review where someone compaired it to this movie. for its social aspects. overall this is the best movie to watch if you are in the mood to watch psychological social movies.
Other Pick: Shindler's List (Stephen Spielberg's Holocaust Film)
