A hilarious romantic comedy about a 30-year-old british woman who still is single and begins to write in a diary. Excellent British accent by Texan Renee Zellweger. Hugh Grant returns to Movies again with his portrayal of Daniel Cleaver, a very handsome bloke.

Colin Firth does an exceptionally good job of portraying Mark Darcy (Darcy is another character's last name he portrayed in Sense and Sensibility).

This movie is based on the best selling british novel of the same name, I have heard that lots of single british women have it in their collection. The British wanted a british actress to portray Bridget Jones but the studio decided to try Miss Zellweger, an american actress who lives in Texas (born there). I heard that the british are very picky about accents, just the way you speak over there shows off the class or place where you live in england. so some british people think Renee's accent was the wrong one for bridget, but for americans we don't care.

As far as the story goes, it is narrated by Jones in Diary form. She doesn't want to fall in love with the following: Perverts, peeping toms, alcoholics.. and her boss who has most of those qualities, which just happens to be played by Hugh Grant (the actor who was caught with the prostitute, oh how embarrassing) there are obvious sexual flirting going on between Briget and Daniel (Grant) mostly having to do with her skirt. But the most embarrassing part of her day is meeting Mr. Darcy (Firth) who remembers her as a little girl who was at his party with no clothes on. (hey young kids are like that) This gets mentioned several times during the film, and luckily we get to see a filmstrip of the event at the end of the movie. This movie has a suprise ending that really shocked me. At a book release engagement Bridget talks into a microphone to start up her introduction speech. After finding out the microphone is not working she yells out "Oi!"(Means the same as "Hey!" over here in the U.S.) several times and talks loudly and introduces the person, the person comes up and turns on the microphone, (oh how embarrassing!) Through part of the film Bridget tries other jobs besides working at a publishing company, but most go wrong including a news report where her "Bum" (Butt) gets shown on camera as she slides down a firepole in a fire station. But she does better later on. A fight between Darcy and Daniel is very silly (two british men fighting) and bring it into a restaurant stop during a birthday celebration and end while jumping out the main floor window of the restaurant. The two problems with the movie are technical: 1. There's hardly any snow in England during winter in Southern England, but there is lots shown in this movie.(some actual snow in Snowhill, England Scenes at bridget's mom's house) and 2. There are points in the movie where you think the movie ends but it continues.

10/10 Good story. Funny characters with real loveable qualities. Renee's accent. and The Colin Firth VS. Hugh Grant fight sequence. Bridget's Mom who blirts out that the Japanese are an inferior race. (woah! talk about a predjudiced parent). 99%/100% Snow is a stage prop not real. Snow falling is done by computer. several lines of black and white pop in the middle of the screen in some scenes.
