Six different people from different backgrounds come to Omaha because of their excellent karaoke singing.

Six Different People: Karaoke brought them together.

Some people will say that this movie takes awhile to get used to. Actually it takes only a few minutes to figure out what's going on. Gwyenth Paltrow stars as Liz, a woman who hasn't seen her father since she was six, her father played by rock and roller Huey Lewis (Singer and band leader of "Huey Lewis and The News") is a hustler and has been away from Liz for that reason. Liz really doesn't care why he hasn't been with her, but she gets to come along with him to Omaha to perform in the Karaoke Championship with the $5,000 prize. Paul Giamatti plays a sales representative that is getting stressed out because of his theme park killing off turtles. He tells his wife he's going out for cigarettes, his wife replies "You don't smoke!?" He drives around meets a karaoke singer who gives him beta blockers and picks up Andre Braugher (Homicide) who plays a prison breakout who happens to sing good. They head out as well, And there's Speedman who plays a taxi driver who owns half a cab he finds out about his girlfriend and he meets Maria Bello a karaoke fanatic. they as well go to Omaha.

Along the way we get character struggles Lewis deals with Liz, Braugher deals with Giamatti, and Speedman deals with Bello. If it gets boring they just go up and sing a song, several songs are famous , such as "Betty Davis Eyes" , "I Can't Make Love Me" and "Sweet Dreams" another treat is that Gwyneth sings herself as well as Lewis, Giametti, and Bello. The only lip syncing is Braugher. This movie is a new installment in the rock and roll movie category. The best songs in the movie is Gwyneth and Lewis` rendition of Smokey Robinson's "Crusin' " and "I Can't Make You Love Me." Instrumental during a scene.

I would suggest buying the soundtrack because the songs in this movie are great.

Huey Lewis can act. He does a great job of playing a hustler as well as a father who hasn't spent much time with his daughter. He acts good, Huey please still keep your day job.

10/10 Great characters and plot bringing a new entry into the rock and roll movie catergory, excellent acting by Lewis and Giamatti. and excellent singing of Gwyneth. 100%/100% Everything great showing off the karaoke clubs and the lives of the characters. Lighting is great. Projectionist at theater didn't fix the picture so faces were almost near the bottom of the screen, luckily didn't see any boom mikes. 1
