Another classic from the creators of "Fargo" , "The Hudsucker Proxy" , "Raising Arizona" and "The Big Lebowski" comes a funny look at Homer's "Oddysey".

Ethan and Joel Coen (The Coen Brothers) have done it again. Pure fun and exciting characters in a world of pure fantasy.

Besides the movies mentioned above The Coen Brothers, Ethan and Joel have made several other films including their debut film "Blood Simple" a film noir. Their style is very story oriented.

George Clooney portrays Everett Ulysses McGill, the so-called leader of three convicts, one named Pete Hogwallop portrayed by Coen Brother's vetran actor John Turturro ("Barton Fink" a Coen film "Quiz Show" not a Coen film) who are running from the law. Everett wants to find his wife (Holly Hunter). While talking very intelligently to some passengers on a train storage cart, Everret gets pulled off by his running convict buddies trying to get on the storage cart as it is moving. They walk and meet some church goers to a lake for water baptisms. They continue on their journey and meet Sirens who turn Pete into a horny toad. just from this short synopsis this story sounds funny while also a bit weird, but hey when its the Coen brothers anything is weird, even when it comes to a choreographed dancing KKK members in a large field. The characters are filled with a funny sense of life. Everett is addicted to wearing hair mousse. John Goodman wears an eyepatch and is a bible salesman, he has a small part as a guy symbolizing Homer's Cyclops. As a stunt to get money the three convicts record a song "I am a Man of Sorrow" as the boggy boys. The song is a hit and everyone wants to know who the boggy boys are. A contemporary look at the "Oddysey" through the lens of the Coen Brothers.

10/10 Great acting by Clooney and Turturro and others. Story filled with humor and fun. 100%/100% use of color to black and white and vice versa. lighting in some scenes too bright. 1
