The Opposite of Sex
Rated: R for strong language sex and violence.
Starring: Christina Ricci, Lisa Kudrow and Lyle Lovett.
Written and Directed by: Don Roos
The story of a tramp who wants what she can get. Although the story is a bit confusing and goes from comedy to drama and talk of sex and back. The narration by Ricci is top notch and keeps the story going with wit and charm. For narration style and story unfolding is good for a movie rental, you get what you pay for.
Ricci, (from "Casper" which on video dissapointed me, they edited it when they should have kept it the way it was in the theaters.)stars as a tramp (a sleezy woman) Who decides to leave home and visit her gay brother, she is against homosexuals, and decides to sleep with her brothers boyfriend. The Brother finds out. Then comes in Lisa Kudrow as "the stalker" according to Ricci. A friend of her brother's who works at his school where he teaches. Kudrow is fantastic in this movie, she still has her comedic charm. But the real charm is lovett as a sheriff who is very sentimental. Although this movie states that "you will be offended" I surely was but the story wasn't all offending, you feel bad for Ricci and everyone else at the end even though Ricci mentions the ending narration earlier on, with line like "I'm not going to change at the end." the narration is the big draw to this film. I've heard of bad narration, but this one kept me going through this limited storyline and was fitted to the bone with Ricci's character. Watch this movie for the narration by Ricci,The story is very limited without it.
10/10 for interesting characters and story but the narration by Ricci is the big draw here. XXX/100 Video rental, please make sure tracking is set so you can see the picture.
