A truly gripping movie about the thirteen days of the Cuban Missle Crisis.

Superb acting by Greenwood and Culp as the Kennedy Brothers

This movie based on the transcripts of the meetings between President Kennedy and the government agencies is a gripping thriller of political power. This happend in the 1960's but the fear of another country aiming weapons of mass destruction at the United States is still present in our society today.

Kevin Costner portrays JFK counsel Kenny O'Donnell (who actually wasn't present for the actual events) is our tour guide of this event in our recent history. After a U2 bomber with a camera takes pictures over Cuba, the pictures come up with missiles from the soviets in the Cuban jungles. The military and everyone in government fears for the worst. The biggest toll is on John (Jack) Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) the President of the United States at that time and his Attorney General Brother Bobby Kennedy. They think over during the first few days of ways to solve the problem while other government officals think a strike (going out and firing at the missiles) is the best bet except for somethings the kennedy's don't like, the World PR of the United States as a power hungry nation. JFK portrayed excellently by Bruce Greenwood, really shows off a powerful president who wants to do the right thing. Bobby Kennedy portrayed by Steven Culp, as a man that wants to help his brother out.

Costner's Accent in "Thirteen Days" is kinda interesting but not his best dialect. The story is very gripping at times especially given the fact that it actually happend gets the extra gripping feeling. Strong good performances and an amazing ending with an actual speech from JFK.

10/10 for a gripping plot and interesting look at the actual events. It's not 100% accurate but at least 95% accurate. 100%/100% cool use of stock footage of aircraft carrier scenes and people in New York looking at old televisions. Very nostalgic for an early 60's event for a 2000 movie. 1
