After her fight with Godzilla in Godzilla vs Biollante, it was inevitable that Miki would have another showdown with Godzilla. Their second tussle occurred in Miki's fourth movie appearance, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla. This time out the multi-national G-Force had created MechaGodzilla, a massive robotic doppleganger of Godzilla. Not only did the men in charge of G-Force think it had enough firepower to destroy Godzilla, they had a secret new weapon: the G-Crusher. After studying a baby Godzillasaurus that had recently hatched [which, in a burst of originality, was named "Baby"] it was discovered that Godzilla has a secondary brain at the base of his spinal column. The G-Crusher would destroy Godzilla's secondary brain, rendering him immobile so MechaGodzilla could finish him off.
Great plan, right? The only glitch in it is that the G-Crusher needs Miki's psychic powers to properly aim it [I guess the engineers were working under a deadline and that's the best aiming system they could come up with to make it in under the clock] and Miki has developed second thoughts about her role in G-Force. She is sickened by the thought that not only is Baby being used as bait, but the realization that G-Force is intentionally antagonizing Godzilla in an effort to destroy him. At this point in the series Godzilla's rampages have lessened to such a degree that he only lumbers onto Japan when provoked. Godzilla is doing a better job of co-existing with humanity than they are with him. [Looking at the Heisei series, most all the monster attacks were caused -either unintentionally or through serious lapses in judgment- by humanity. The only exception to this was SpaceGodzilla who instead was created by a murky plot line.]
While she has ethical qualms about sacrificing an innocent creature in an attempt to bushwhack Godzilla Miki still recognizes the threat Godzilla poses. Stuck in a no-win situation, Miki reluctantly agrees to helm the G-Crusher. While the big-wigs running G-Force had a not-so clever plan to trap Godzilla it, naturally, went to pot. As a result MechaGodzilla ends uphaving to fight Rodan and Godzilla in the middle of Japan. After putting Rodan down for the count, MechaGodzilla engages in a pitched battle with Godzilla. After linking with another ship and turning into SuperMechaGodzilla, the tide of the fight begins to turn. In spite of it's unwieldly name, SuperMechaGodzilla is able to stun Godzilla long enough for the G-Crusher to be used. Everything now hinges on Miki.
