Top 100!

End of the Century Nuttiness!

Top 100 lists seem to be all the rage these days. After the Top 100 American Films list came out, it seems everyone wants to give a numerical listing to subjective artforms like literature, cinema, or what have you. Tacking things onto a list seems an odd way to mark the end of the twentieth century, but at least it's a less obsessive cultural quirk than the Beanie Baby craze.

In a way, these lists are addictive. If you agree with the choices, you feel the people who judged the list are a wise, well-bred lot. [I smiled in smug satisfaction when I saw that Citizen Kane was ranked #1 on the AFI Top 100.] But then when choices are made that you disagree with, you end up feeling that whomever chose the listing was either pandering to popular opinion or was just plain rock-stupid. [ Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was on the list? That movie sucked! American Graffiti? The wildly awful movie Rock & Roll High School was a better flick!]

Never being one to miss a trend, I've decided to compile my own top 100 list. Not wanting to limit the subject matter, I decided to just list the Top 100 Things. Using the scientific method of randomly asking a few people, I wrote down all the responses I happened to remember and compilied them into this listing. Enjoy!

There you go! Print out the list, share and compare with your friends, and see how it fits in with the way you view the world around you.

Bonus! Here's a listing by Shriner Marcus listing the Top 100 Things that Piss Him Off!

Oh yeah, that was pointless. Plus, the listing is barely a tenth full. If you would like to add anything to the listing, or just want to share some comments, drop me a line at gleep9@hotmail.com. Now Hang 10 on out of here to either the Pop Culture or the main page.
