As my body suffers from the pains of aging
I realize my time here on earth is short
I am filled with fear
But I refuse to let the fear engulf my mind
I am determined to live as though
the day were to be my very last
I know that this breath of life
is a gift from God
Therefore, I live with joyous wonder
at the endless blue skies
as I twirl under the warming sun in the day
And at the bountiful stars
As I waltz beneath the glowing moon in the night
I live in awe of the breathless majesty
of the snow capped mountains beyond the village
And the melting snow that flows downstream
in endless direction
simultaneously quenching the thirst of trees
anchored along side in towering glory
I live to enjoy a leisurely stroll through
fields bursting with
an array of wildflowers, so colorful
Beautiful colors that soon meld into one
In the immeasurable distance
The beauty combined with
a fragrance that permeates the air
A fragrance very pleasing to my senses
I live to feel the gentle breeze
softly caress me
Sensually stroking every inch of my physical being
As it whispers without words in my ear
I live to run naked in the rain
As it washes away any worries that linger within
I feel cleansed of my sin
I live to climb the giant oak tree
That I have come upon
And make believe that it is
The stairway to heaven
I sit atop that tree and hear the quiet
As I am enveloped by the peace
My mind clear, my thoughts null
My spirit soars freely
I live
Because I am one with my surroundings
I live
Just because I am alive
