Once again terrorrists are on a roll
They attacked one of our own, the USS Cole
On October 12, 2000 a day to regret
Bright, young lives were lost
A day their families will never forget
At the Port of Aden
In the country of Yemen
The destroyer made a routine stop to refuel
They were followed by a 10 ft tender boat
Not suspecting inside were terrorist fools
As the ship was being moored
there was a sudden blast
It was unknown if a bomb had been cast
It hit the midhull of the USS Cole
leaving a large, gaping hole
Unfortunately, too
it killed some of the crew
Our country was stilled
waiting to hear who may have been killed
Family members fought back their tears
None of them wanted to hear
that a loved one had been lost
Oh, democracy, what cost!
Those that died
had served with pride
But their lives were cut short too soon
Their families left with a terrible wound
I am angered by this attack
Such a cowardly act!
Will there ever be world peace?
Will the turmoil ever cease?
I pray that one day we will see
peace in this world
Won't you pray for peace with me?
