THE E-MAIL MESSAGE

I received a short e-mail message and I was taken aback
It simply read "You won. You got him back"
And then the question followed "But do you have his heart?"
I tried to forget your last affair, but this was a reminder
And it tore me apart

I thought she was trying to come back into your life
And it cut my heart like a sharp-edged knife
You swore that it was over and didn't know who it could be
that sent that cryptic message to me

I'm sure that you thought I would let it go
But no, my dear, I just had to know
With some creative help, I was in shock to find
That you had currently been through another affair
This, your second time

I had imagined this one to be beautiful
And sexy too
But to my humiliation I found she was damn ugly
from my friends' point of view

You couldn't explain why you did it
It was just something that happened you said
She invited you for lunch
Next thing you were both in bed

You thought it would be just a one-time fling
But everyday at work, your phone would ring
She would always beg you to meet her anywhere
And that was the start of this affair

One day she told you she asked her husband for a divorce
She expected you to leave me too, of course
But you got scared and couldn't commit
So finally you decided to call it quits

You lied to her and said you had told me everything
And that I begged you to give our marriage another chance
So you decided to stay with me
And try to re-spark our romance

Naturally she was angry
She wanted to get back at you
So she sent me the e-mail message
Not really knowing what I would do

So here we stand at a threshhold
My trust for you completely gone
I have made the difficult decision
That it's time for me to move on

I ask that you pay dearly
For all the years I was a good wife
And so that the children and I
continue to have a decent life

If that doesn't leave you much to live on
Well, that's just too bad
You should have thought of the consequences
before this affair you had
