~ My Favorite Time of the Year ~
Summer's end is coming near
Summer-with it's blistering heat
And soon will come my favorite time of year
Fall will give us quite a treat
An array of colors will greet us
As far as we can see
Shades of yellows, dark greens, deep reds
All contrasting beautifully
Driving along the countryside
Wheatfields-a carpet of green
Just about the most beautiful sight
I have ever seen
Along side the mountain roads
Giant evergreen trees
Wearing their fall outfits
As stately as you please
I see little squirrels and chipmunks
Stockpiling for their winter needs
Such smart little creatures
Collecting all kinds of nuts and seeds
My favorite part of fall
people beginning to hibernate
They won't be driving on the roads as much
Because cool weather most of them hate
I love fall
The coolness, the colors, the quiet
It's my favorite time of the year
Such a pure delight!
