You had left me many autumns ago
My heart was torn to shreds
It was hard to let the memories go
Those memories that kept swirling in my head

Just when I thought I was ready to move on
You showed up last spring
It was evening and the full moon shone
And my heart began to sing

My mind kept trying to warn me
That we should only be friends
But my heart wouldn't listen
And I fell in love with you again

All the roses seemed to blossom
in such colorful array
So too my heart
Just being with you every day

Passion filled our summer nights
As we lay blanketed by the stars
Their lights so dazzling
fueling our burning desires from afar

It never once crossed my mind
That this would come to an end
I thought surely this time
My heart would truly mend

The autumn season comes again
As you leave my life once more
As the leaves fall from the trees outside
So my heart falls as you walk out the door

I follow you and watch
While the tears well up in my eyes
As you slowly disappear from my sight
I begin to realize
This time you're leaving forever
I'll never see you again
I feel my heart tearing into a thousand pieces
with excruciating pain
