I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING

The night is sultry
I'm unable to sleep
My thoughts are on you
And I begin to weep

We've had some good times
And some times were bad
Most times you made me happy
A few times you made me sad

I thought we'd be forever
But no, it didn't work out that way
Did a break up cross my mind? Never!
I don't know what to say
I didn't see it coming
Or maybe I was in denial
Although you'd say you loved me
Your thoughts were on her all the while

I should have read the signs
that was obvious to my friends
But I guess I turned blind
Because I didn't want us to end

I'm sorry that you left my dear
I really wished you had stayed
I'm hoping you'll wake up soon
And come back to me some day
