WE HAD TAKEN EACH OTHER FOR GRANTED

I didn't appreciate you
Nor did you appreciate me
We had taken each other for granted, regretfully

You'd go to work and come back home each day
And you would never have much to say
The lack of conversation would torment me each night
How I wanted to yell and scream at you with all my might

Each time I tried to talk to you
There were other things you had to do
Your tenderness was no longer there
Your thoughts you would no longer share

I'd leave the room to cry alone
Somehow, apart, we had grown

And then one day I met another
And though I could stop it
He became my lover
My loneliness he had sensed
And our relationship grew intense

Secretly we'd meet for an hour or two
And then I'd hurry home to you
But I can't let things go on this way
There is just so much I need to say
And I won't let it wait another day
